Trip to Philippines

Malapascua Island, Philippines, Strictly for those who love the Sun, Sea and Sand!

Posted on 09/10/2015

There is nothing like spending days in a small island where you can rejuvenate your mind, body and soul, and Malapascua Island in the Philippines is the place  to be!

Malapascua Island is located in the northernmost tip of Cebu, one of the major islands in the Philippines. It covers an area of only 2.5 by 1 kilometer, so you can walk around the island in an hour or two, depending on your speed! It has a population of about 4,000 people, most of whom are engaged in fishing,  building boats, coconut farming, or are involved in the tourist trade. It is relatively new to the tourism industry but is now one of the top diving destinations in the Philippines. There is no airport in Malapascua so you have to fly into the Mactan - Cebu International Airport, served by a number of domestic and Asian carriers. From there, you have to take a 4-hour bus ride to Maya Port, and then a boat ride to Malapascua, which is about thirty minutes away.

Getting to Malapascua might be a little tedious but it is worth it! If you are a scuba diver, Malapascua’s Monad Shoal is the only place in the world where you can see thresher sharks daily, as well as giant manta rays, devil rays, eagle rays, and even hammerheads occasionally. Aside from scuba diving, you can also enjoy snorkeling, island hopping and swimming in one of its beaches including Logon, Guimbitayan, and Bounty. You can also take a stroll around the island, trek to Malapascua Lighthouse, or relax while having a  massage at Vida Spa.

Booking a trip to Malapascua Island is the start of your journey to a tropical paradise where the sand, sea and sun will welcome you!
