5 Can't Miss Activities in Aruba

Posted on 08/05/2015

The island of Aruba, along with Bonaire and Curacao forms what is commonly referred to as the ABC Islands in the Lesser Antilles region of the Caribbean Sea. They also form what is known as the Dutch Caribbean or the Netherlands Antilles.

Aruba's list of holiday activities can be overwhelming for a first-time traveler. But you need not do everything. Below is a list of the top 5 activities that every traveler in the island ought to experience by the end of his vacation.

1. Snorkeling

If you do not have your snorkeling gear, you can rent one. The reefs surrounding Aruba are rich in marine diversity. Again, the waters are not too deep so as to scare the novice diver. All you need is to adorn the gear and take a dive. You will be amazed by the amount of flora and fauna hidden by the deep blue Caribbean waters.

2. Watch the sunsets

Whether you want to do this on the beach, or over a drink or on a catamaran; the fact remains that this is the most romantic thing you will do in a long while. The Caribbean sunsets are alluring, but the Aruban sunsets are magical.

3. Exploring the island

Unlike other islands in the Caribbean, Aruba's landscape is dry and cactus strewn. This does not mean that is not ideal for hiking. In fact, it lies well out of the hurricane belt and thus is largely safe to spend time outdoors and in off-the-beaten path places.

4. Boat tours and watersports

If you do not enjoy a boat ride in Aruba, then your trip there can never be complete. Make it your mission to go out at least twice a week on a long fishing expedition. Who knows, you may even get the hang of steering a boat.

5. Nightlife

There are many casinos and nightclubs in Aruba. Examples of these include; La Cabana Beach Resort and Casino, The Casino at The Ritz-Carlton, Sterallis Casino, Alhambra Casino, Occidental Grand Casino and many more. You are especially well advised to try Palm Beach. This is where you will celebrate the legendary Aruba night scene.
